The special effects in this were created by double-exposing each picture, one without the figures and one with the figures supported by a minimum of bricks. Then using GIMP software, the figures without their support pieces were superimposed over the empty panels. GIMP was also used for the motion blurs.

Steve’s final line is borrowed from the blaxploitation spoof I’m Gonna Git You Sucka, where the elder hero is being followed around by a funk band. When questioned, he explains “That’s my theme music. All good heroes should have some.”
As far as who the DJ is, that’s an inside joke among LEGO webcomic creators.
