There’s a lot going on in this strip. The second panel is supposed to be reminiscent of the blurry, filmy look TV sitcoms use when they’re about to enter a flashback sequence. In the third panel, take note of the network name where I’m poking fun at a network which likes to call itself fair and balanced. In the ticker, I’m referencing former Alaskan governor and vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s uncanny resemblance to The Baroness in G.I. Joe, as well as a reference to former Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler, who has a reputation for being a whiny bitch (which Chicagoans will learn as the season goes on). Finally, Charlie is quoting from the Elvis song “A Little Less Conversation” in the final panel. Whew!
