I have a book called Tuf Voyaging by George R. R. Martin. It’s a great book – I highly recommend it. At one point a character is put in the unenviable position of having to earn his way across the stars. He winds up sweeping decks of this miles-long ship. That’s a lot of sweeping. It could be done by robots, but that wouldn’t be as funny.
The Awesome Power of Science seems like it ought to always be accompanied by a growl of thunder and a swell of dramatic music. And, of course, that would be Science Guy’s theme. We haven’t seen the Technician around for awhile – not since Sandstorm buried him up to his neck for accidentally mouthing off. Poor guy.
Wipes were prevalent throughout the Star Wars and Indiana Jones series. I thought it might be fun to mess around with some cinematic techniques in the webcomic for this week.
You know on TV shows how people say stuff like “I wonder what he’s doing right now?” and then there’s a swirly, foggy special effect (that used to be done by putting Vaseline on the camera lens) and then a scene change? You expect to see something like that after the prompting statement. Apparently so did Stretch and Shellshock.
