It’s been awhile since Charlie graced these pages. And even longer since I made mention of his and Sandstorm’s ongoing relationship. This is the first time I’ve tried the “frosty” speech bubble to denote a very specific emotional tone. What do you think? Does it work?
This strip is chock full o’ more Star Wars references, and wraps up the silly ending to the alien abduction storyline that’s been going on for the last sixteen (!) weeks. Up next…more of the rest of the S-Team!
Using Star Wars figures really is a ploy to attract more readers. I like how Darth Vader uses non-verbal communication to convey his point in this one. I also like how Chewis barks like a dog. When my dog is feeling playful, she groans and growls and sounds a lot like a Wookiee.
Monty Python originally did this bit with a British Army lieutenant interrupting a strange (even for them) sketch, announcing it had grown far too silly and he wasn’t going to tolerate it anymore. I thought it would be funny to have Darth Vader assume that role (plus I don’t have a good British Army uniformed figurine).
