The 18th of September marked the 2-year anniversary of the excellent Brick House webcomic, so I made a special commemorative strip to mark the occasion. If you don’t read Chris Doyle’s highly entertaining strip, you should.
Cyndi Lauper (she’s so unusual!) released a song where she claimed “Money changes everything.” In Tyrant’s case, it doesn’t change the fact that he’s still a jerk and a lousy parent. I imagine the Tiny-Tyrant relationship to be much like the Scott Evil-Dr. Evil relationship from the funny-at-times Austin Powers movies.
Patricide is a venerable tradition throughout literary history, dating back at least to the era of the Greeks when Oedipus slew his father (and later boinked his mother in a story that was at least as disturbing as the film Spanking the Monkey). It’s kind of a subtle bombshell, but yes…Tiny is Tyrant’s son.
Tyrant’s last speech is a reference to an series of old Saturday Night Live sketches called the Daily Affirmation, performed by now-political candidate and journalist Al Franken.
To borrow a recently-famous quote, “you can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig.” And Tyrant is still Tyrant.
