I’m ba-a-a-ack…for real this time…honest…
A new post? How exciting!
So it’s been most of a year. The truth of the matter is I’m not very good at blogging consistently. That’s something I’m really going to try to work on this year, as all the conventional wisdom is that one must have a Pretty Good Website if one is to be better at Selling One’s Books. This will be a catch-up post for you so you know what I’ve been up to over the past ten months, and laying out what is coming up in the future.
Book releases, etc.!
I released two books in 2024:
Roast Wyvern (and Other Recipes) is a YA fantasy romance, nominally set in the same world as my book Horde. Extinction Event is the book I’ve been leading up to for more than a decade in the Just Cause Universe. This is the Big One, with a cast of thousands fighting to save the Earth.
Cons, etc.!
I did more cons and other events this year than I’ve ever done before: 14 events in three different states (there would have been a 15th in another state, but weather prevented us traveling to it). Most of those events were profitable for me, and in a couple cases, the most profitable ever. It was an inspiring year for selling books in person, and I’m looking forward to doing more of the same in 2025.
Deal of the Century!
Well, it may not be the Deal of the Century, but for some reason I’ve decided my headings should be alphabetical in this post. The good news is about a deal I made, though. I have made a licensing arrangement with Prowlers & Paragons, a tabletop roleplaying game system, to create a Just Cause Universe game supplement. This will bring the JCU full circle back to tabletop gaming, as it was originally created as a TTRPG setting before it was a series of novels. I’ll be doing a Kickstarter early in 2025 for artwork, and hope to have a finished product ready to sell by the summer.
Exciting news about a new series!
It’s been a decade since I last wrote a book with my dear friend and fellow author Allison M.Dickson (Strings, The Other Mrs Miller). Following the disappointing election results this past November, we started discussing the possibility of a new project. That project is now underway. It will be a five-book limited series about non-powered superheroes, and our working series title is Woke. This series will not be part of the JCU and we will likely start releasing the books once we have two or three of them completed (we write at a blistering pace, so it’s entirely possible we will have these out late in 2025).
For real, more fantasy!
Fantasy fiction is huge. Like, mind-bogglingly huge. To that end, I’m working on yet another book project in 2025. This will be a spoofy police procedural set in the same world as Horde and Roast Wyvern (and Other Recipes). It is called The Murder Squad.
Golly, is there anything else?
Yes, but that will be another post for another time.
