This was an odd event. Previous years have been good, but this year, even though it was busy with foot traffic, very few attendees were spending money. Some of them said they didn’t even know there would be vendors.

I get that first-time con attendees don’t know what to expect. And people are living on budgets tighter than ever these days. I can’t fault the attendees for not spending money. The city did an excellent job of promoting the event, made clear by the number of attendees.

This is still one of my hometown events, and I want to support it if at all possible. Sometimes you have a great, profitable show, and sometimes you don’t. I will still come back to do this one next year.
